South was born from a simple idea — that Anchorage deserved a restaurant that felt both comfortable and elevated.

South Restaurant + Coffeehouse opened its doors in 2015 with a single goal: serve honest, beautiful food made from scratch every morning, using the finest local Alaskan ingredients we could source.
We partner with local farms, artisan bakers like French Oven Bakery, and regional producers who care as deeply about their craft as we do. Every plate is made intentionally — not to a formula, but from a genuine love of good food.
From brunch to dinner to our thriving coffeehouse, South has become an Anchorage institution — a place where chefs, creatives, families, and night owls all find something that feels like home.

Chef Carlos brings 18 years of Pacific Northwest culinary experience to the South kitchen. He leads our scratch-made philosophy every service.
